Ok, since we have not had any snow this year and they haven't put any salt on the roads either I decided to take the car out for a drive yesterday. While out I decided that since she's got 57K on her I should change the transmission fluid in the 5spd. Do you guys have any suggestions on fluid to use? I did a search in Modular and could not find anything. The manual suggests "Mercron", is this the same as your typical Dextron III / Mercron.

I figured that a full synthetic would be the best.

Only question now is can it be the "Dex. / Merc." fluid that they have everywhere or is it "Type F"?? Reason I question it is that I took remembered that my winter rat could use another change and since the fill tube is a pain in the a-- to get to figured I'd see how bad Jiffy Ripoff would charge. When I checked with them their ALLDATA software said "Type F" whereas my rat's manual says "Mercron" I always thought that Type F was only used in older Ford slushboxes and figured that Mercron meant Dextron III/Mercron fluid. While I'm thinking of it, can anyone recommend a book on mild mods for the Modular 'Stangs? I'm looking to increase torque/hp more than handling. JR
