Mac Cold air kit- anyone have this on their 1999 - 2002 gts?
Anyone have one of these on their car? I'm looking into possibly buying one. Did you notice any horsepower gains after installation? Is $160 a good price?
thanks, Mike |

Put that 160 towards a C&L Cold air with the 80mm maf. The maf is the part where the power comes from anyway. Don't waste the money on Mac's kit. It's all show and very little go. Trust me. I have the C&L on my GT and love it, and I have the Mac kit on my bro's 94 cobra. The c&L is much better. Good luck!

I was also considering a cold air kit. has anyone dynoed one of these? I hear you can pick up 6-8 RWHP with a C/A kit but that sounds a bit too optimistic to me.

Cold air kits can work, but if you're gonna spend the cash, spend a bit more and get something a lot better. Go with the Kit from C&L for example. You'll see a 7-12rwhp gain. That's what they say, and I believe them, cause I felt as good a gain from this as I did from the X-pipe.

CAI facts
My first mod was Mac CAI. I did nothing but increase fuel consumption.
However, i'm convinced it started to work really well like it was supposed too when i put on the pro chamber and flowmasters. That's based on my SOTP meter, which isn't as accurate as a dyno. |

MAC Cold Air
I've owned my 2000GT for about a month and just had MAC cold air put on it. The only thing is that I also added MAC's x-pipe and catback exhaust. I added them together because the word around the campfire is that the CAI makes a difference but it's negligible without an exhaust system too. They compliment each other well. Try reading the reviews on Stangnet, they'll give you more opinions.
