Default 1999 Cobra Engine Noise???

My cousin just picked up a 1999 Corba for $10K because "the engine was blown". It isn't really blown, but it does make a noticable lifter tick or piston slapping sound from the front passenger side of the engine. The car runs strong, and the noise is most noticable under acceleration. Checked valve train and everything seemed to look good there. Any guesses??? We are thinking wrist pin, but that is only a guess. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is the tick coming from just one cylinder? If so it may be a rod knock and the rod bearing is toast. I had a POS '82 GMC Sierra S-15 (Yeah I know it's a GM but it was $50!) with a rod knock and it sound almost like a diesel engine. Is this what the Cobra is doing? Even if the engine is blown $10K is a good deal since you can but a brand new Cobra crate engine from Ford for $3995 meaning total cost is only aroung $15K for the car.

Default rod knock

you mean OUR gmc high sierra I miss that thing so much, too bad you had to go and blow the motor while revving it like a fool...

As for you buddies cobra, I once saw a website with sound files of most engine problems. If you have the time search around for it as i'm sure it would help you out quite a bit.
