Southern,
You've got to understand that the 5.0 has been around a long time and a LOT of folks know the 5.0 inside and out. The 302 has been around since the 60's and the 5.0 came out when? 81 or 82? It's just not the same with the modulars yet. There is a reason we have this forum, its to help those who need help. And lets face it, most new\uninitiated stang drivers are going to get a modular.

And to be honest, I'm glad the new folks come here. Post on the Corral and watch your post get buried. and if you think the IQs are dim here, I highly suggest you don't go to stangnet or Mustangworld....

We do have some very informed regulars who post here:
SDWheeler (Ported heads\intake anyone?), Mustang92 (12 sec NA GT), Turbo99GT (insane boost), and myself (just too stylish) among others.

The only way to make the site better is to post away....

I have had a Modular Motor (4.6L) in my last two Mustangs and am quite the novice. I scour the internet for tips, trick, etc. This is one place that can be quite useful (tonight I am going to report actual track results on the 85mm C&L kit so that others can share in my knowledge and make a better decision on what to buy rather than just blindly purchasing part after part until they get one that satisfies their needs). That is what this game is all about. If you were a real expert - per se - rather than an enthusiast, then you would likely be selling your information rather than just giving it away to all the Mustang owners of the world. Although some of the same questions get repeated over and over, I find this one of the best sites for those that would like a nice start into modifying their car - and hopefully will share their experiences. After looking at the majority of your posts, you are in the same boat - asking questions of the rest of us and trying to share what you have learned, too. I was rather appalled by this post to which I am replying due to the fact that membership is voluntary and if you do not like the forum, then you could choose not to participate. That would, however, become our loss because, since we are all learning here, your input is valuable and well received by others that volunteer to read it and those who choose to reply. I hope that you stay as enthusiastic about this site as I continue to be.

Default Pretty rude!!!

I pretty surprised that you would post such a rude comment on this board. If you don't like it.....then don't come.

Not all of us are experts with the new 4.6L's, and some of us like the fact that there are generous people out there that take their time to answer questions for others. I'm new to this board myself, but you make me not want to even come back cause you think your god!

I can tell you didn't read what I wrote, it didn't take balls to say it ! Its how this mustang guy feels at this time ! I am no 4.6l god by no means , 4.6l are so knew that it will take time to learn , but look back in to all the questions , there all the same !! People keep asking all the samething ,

What kind of tire , should I get a cold air , etc.....

I understand not know what to get , I have asked many question on this board , but to save my self from asking the samething that 1,000 have asked , I looked at the other people question and read the fee'd back. Thats all I am saying !!! But also look at the good questions here on the board , , they have no reply because people have gotten sick of having to answer the samething time in and time out !!

And I said that I was just venting ,,, sorry if it was taken the wrong way , but I feel how I feel and I am more than sure that there are many that feel like me !!!

So have fun learning the 4.6l , but do what most men won't , LOOK BEFORE ASKING !! sh-- thats what my wife says any wayz !!!!!

I like the rest want to learn , and not just that cold air don't work and that gears are a really good first mod !! And thats just seems to be all thats asked , so for this tread ,, My bad , did not mean disrespect by no means !!!

Southernstang97~
Cut these people a break, some people are just getting into the Mustang thing and they need help with simple things. Its not a problem. If you don't like this site then dont come here, ever think of that? People have the right to ask whatever they want. If you think they are dumb questions then don't raed them. And did you ever think that the reason why some questions dont get good answers is because no one knows that answer??? How bout your control arm question? Why don't you just pick one on your own if your such a hardcore Mustang guy?

I see this complaint every year from someone who's been around for a while. However, the tried and true Mustang modification questions will always be prevalent on the forums. And, they typically come in waves - especially when we're coming into summer and new people are purchasing Mustangs for the first time.

What we should strive for is to welcome these newer performance enthusiasts into our community and use the knowledge that we have gained with our own Mustang modifications to help tutor them. We shouldn't let the same typical questions tire us, and in the process of reiterating the answers hopefully we can keep these newer enthusiasts from making the mistakes we may have made. As such, perhaps we can then give them a more pleasant experience with modifying their steed.

Through this process of continually educating newbies hopefully we can not only help the popularity of the Mustang grow, but increase our own community as well. And, in the end hopefully have a much greater number of great running, well done Mustangs all around the country.

After all, that is a big part of why I created MustangWorks.com in the first place.

Thumbs up Dan McClain , good point

Dan , good point

I in no way was trying to start anything on this site , because we all know how stangnet.com is with there forums. I am not putting down the new people , we all are learning on the whole 4.6l, like said before 5.0 have been around for a min and the info for those engines is out there. But I was hoping by putting this on the table that maybe the new wave of questions would start up. I spend a lot of time on this site and looking thru a lot of the questions and replies and I am just to the point where i wanted someone to bring something new , so that we all would learn from it , the new and the old stang people !! Thats all , not trying to be a bad guy , shoot I am from the south and there no bad people down here ( jk , lol ) .

The biggest appeal of this board to me is that I can ask very simple questions and not feel like I am going to get slammed by someone that thinks they are above the rest...

I can program computer circles around most people on this board but when it comes to cars, I don't know squat.

Sometimes you have to ask what appears to be the same question with a slight personal twist to it... Like, I know that people put Eibach Sportlines on their cars with bilstein shocks but what about on convertibles? The websites say "no"... Every question is not the same.

I don't see what the purpose of your post was except to rile people up...

I appreciate this site and the way the moderators run it...

Smile New members, old questions

southernstang97:

Here's my take on your comment:

The common Mustang questions, - whether 4.6 or 5.0 versions - will always be around as new Mustang owners come along every day and we naturally welcome them here as well as the experienced folks.

Ever notice all the Mustang magazines run similar basic 'How To' articles every year? Same reason - new readers coming along who need the information. They have to do this.

I do wish more new members would use the 'search' function to find answers to the basic, common questions that have been answered many times. Those answers are readily available in the MW archives with no waiting but unfortunately most newbies don't use the feature.

On the tech forums, we try to respond to whatever comes along - simple or complex - and the variety of experience and knowledge available on Mustang Works - for free - is substantial and offered willingly without subjecting the newer members to insults and put-downs, as we were all newbies once, weren't we?

I suggest you continue to post and ask the harder questions as well as answering them whenever you can. That's how we learn and grow here and we appreciate everyone's tech input.
