Sounds right about the syncros, how many miles are on the T45?

Check the fluid level also...it should be right below the fill hole on your T45. Mine started grinding slightly at 38,000 miles, I changed the fluid (synthetic) and added some Lucas trans fix...now it shifts very smoothly.

If you need help, I have alot of sources including myself.

That sounds about right for the Cobra for that year, my cousin had a white one like that, he finally gave up on it. He had the car in the shop 8 times for that problem with grinding gears. His did it no matter what you did (not bad driving), full clutch, partial clutch, no clutch.... it didn't matter... it always ground... maybe you should go with an automatic, and give it a stronger transmission with less problems... Ask Baumann Engineering, they do it all the time with Cobras...

has anybody tried replacing the clutch quadrant it may not be disengaging the clutch all the way might be slipping, you would not feel this after you shift into second or while your driving just when you take off either way it`s cheap and easy to replace and it might fix your problem
