Default Oil recommendations

Just wondering which brands and what grades most of you guys run and what you think about them. Info on oil filters would be appreciated, too. I drive my car in the middle...don't rag it, but don't drive it conservitably. It has just turned 50K miles.

Mobil 1 5w30. The weight was at the advice of one of the best mechanics I know, guess the mod motors like it light. Heck the Snake takes 5w20.

Filter, I would try a K&N oil filter. Hear the Frams are crap, but that's what I've run for years, so I'm shopping for a new one too.

I agree, I run full synthetic mobile 1 5w30, and my car seems to like this one the best out of all the ones I've tried.

The Pure One filter should be easy enough to find...

It's available at all of our local parts places...

But the synthetic oil and the Pure One are not cheap...

Probably $5 or $6 a quart for the oil and $6 for the filter...

Here's something interesting. Its straight from Mobil's site. Although it doesn't say which year. However Mobil does list 0w30 as a reccomendation for the 02 Cobra

Mobil 1 is factory fill in:

Chevrolet Corvette
All Porsche vehicles
Mercedes-Benz AMG vehicles
Dodge Viper
Ford Mustang Cobra R
All Aston Martin cars

I have 2002 GT with around 4500, should I switch to synthetic now, or did my car come stock with it? I used synthetic in my other car, switched at 53K miles, should i switch now?

That's fine...just making sure you didn't have special order anything.

By the way, anybody know off the top of their head how much oil the 4.6 takes?

A lot. It should be in the owners manual, but I didn't look. I just went of the dipstick when I changed mine. I think it takes between 6 and 7.

Mine takes exactly 6 quarts everytime...

I usually fill up to 5-1/2 first, check it and then add the last 1/2 quart.
