Steeda Tri-ax vs Pro 5.0
Ok, I'm pretty much set on getting a shifter for my first project. I was just wondering, I have heard a number of good things about the Tri-ax, but what about the Pro 5.0? Can anyone compare/constrast these two? The Pro 5.0 is like $10 more or something to that effect. Any help? Thanks guys!

IMO the Pro 5.0 is a stronger shifter, it has a cast steel ring, instead of the aluminum one that the steeda has. In the contrast I think the steeda is a lot more practical shifter. It has a lot more comfortable position, because the handle has a better bend in it. As far as shortness of throw, to my knowledge they are teh same. Personally I have the Steeda, I got it for the reasons listed above, and it is $10 cheaper. Steeda is a very trust worthy name, and I gaurantee that you will be completely satisfied with the steeda. I have no experience with the pro 5.0 but I would imagine that it would only be needed by Arnold Schwartzeneger. I slam my steeda pretty hard, and it doesn't give at all, so though the pro 5.0 may be stronger, it is an overkill, the Steeda is strong enough. (Plus you will save a little weight) I am not a shifter expert nor have I any experience with the Pro 5.0, so be sure to seek out others opinions on the subject before you come to a conclusion.
Hope this helps. |

I have driven cars with both shifters and thought they both were an incredible improvement over the stock. I think the Steeda felt better, but that is most likely due to the handle. But I have seen that Pro 5.0 offers many different handles to choose from, although they may cost extra money. You can't go wrong with either, but when I buy my next Mustang it will most likely get the Steeda shifter.
I personally had a Kirban shifter on my first Mustang, but have to admit it was not good as the other two.

I have the Tri-Ax and my buddy has the Pro 5.0 I have driven both. IMO I like the Tri-Ax better. You can adjust it to your liking. But they are both a ton better than the stock one.
