Look at the intake. These had problems with it cracking. See if the intake looks newer than the engine, or any signs that it might have been replaced...

Could be good or bad, bad if it hasn't been replaced cause it could be a time bomb waiting to go off.

or, it could be that the person ran the h3ll out of it and blew it, then drove home with no water and caused it to overheat..

only thing I know of...
