whistling noise at high speed?
I have an 02 gt I keep hearing this whistling noise if I'm traveling at 60mph and hammer on it thats when it makes this noise,Only when i hammer on it and it does not do it all the time. It almost sounds like the belt would be slipping. I lose no horsepower or anything like that but that sound does bother me. Any help would be greatly appreciatie. Thanks inadvance.

First, where is the whistling coming from, the engine? It sounds like the throttle body. Mine does the same thing, but I have a larger throttle body on it too. I only hear it when driving and giving it gas. More than likely thats it.

Yes it is coming from the engine bay. Its only when i put it to the floor while traveling at 60 or 70 in that area!

You can go 60-70mph in three of your five gears with a manual and at least two of the four with an auto.
How many miles are on the car? What's your trans? Is it every gear? Try running those rpms in another gear and doing the same thing. What happens? Does it happen only under load (ie try it in neutral)? Get under the hood and hold the car (in neutral) at the rpms you have the issue. Do you notice anything that seems out of place?

My car is a 2002 gt with 15000 miles, auto trans, and stock gears. I did take out the air silencer. But that was a will back. I always run 97 fuel. I tired it at neutral from idel and from 2000 rpms and 2500 rpms and 3000 rpms and it does not make that sound and it does not seem there is anything out of place when it is hammered. It does not do it all the time when i stomp on it at those speeds just every once inwhile. Of course not when i have some else in the car that might know alittle about cars it always when me and the wife is in the car. Maybe that's it. the wife.JJ!
Thanks |
