Question Help With my 2003 GT

Well, I have a new 2003 Mustang GT Convertible, and I will have a new turbo or super charger in any week now. I plan on buying one in the next few days. But, I need help on deciding which one to use. I know the Modular cant handle all the heat of a turbo or super charger, or so Ive heard. Now, is it the temperature, or the HP that prevents high HP output from Modulars. If so, is it possible to have a race turbo, with a 3-core and 2-cor intercoole connected? My friend has this setup, but I havent seen it in action. Thank you for your interst in my quesition. I appreciate and anticipate your answer.

Who says that a modular can't handle high horsepower?

There are plenty of turbocharged and supercharged setups for the modular that put out some pretty good numbers...

It all depends on what you consider high horsepower...

I ran 450 HP at the crank with no problems on stock internals.

You start pushing 600 and above, now that could be a different story.

Yeah, i was looking to put out more than 600 hp, and I was told that the stock modular can cope with up to 450rwhp. I was looking at procharger.com and they have some nice setups for 4.6L Mustangs that put out up to 925hp, with only a swap of chips and maybe some minor dyno tuning would be required. What i'm worried about is the fact that at high hp (talking 600+) the engine will..in lighter terms, "blow up". I want to be able to achieve 600+ hp without that happening.

I would go turbo if I had the money to do so just think this way the supercharger my add 200 hp for say (high boost) but there is another 50+ hp being sucked up by having to spin the blower off thye crank but with the turbo your using wasted power(exhaust) to make to make power but then there is the down side heat!!!! but if you take care and use heat wrap and shields the you should be good

I was also just told that I can use a 2003 Cobra shortblock, and put 2V headers on it. I dont know if thats true, but can someone provide me with info on this? Or has someone heard anything about this?

with the "SERIUOS HP" you are wanting to know about, have you talked to the pro's at SHM? I'm sure those guys could sell you the parts or complete engine to handle that kind of power. You are talking about double the HP most of the guys on this board seem to dream of ( including me ) let alone know about. That's not saying there aren't a few Pros on here but this is the most HP I've heard disscussed here, ever. When you get to where you are wanting to go in HP terms let us know, we would love to learn from you knowlege!

Good Luck!

Ab so freakin lutley. But consider the Cobra has forged internals at less than 450. I recommend them in ANY boost setting or any 7K or higher rpm setting.
