1/4 mile times
I was wondering if anyone had some simliar mods to their mustang and what times they are running.I ran 13.7 last year with an engine with 20k miles on it.Ford warrantied my engine when a bearing was spun. The only mods I had then were 4:10 gears and a hypertech programmer.Since the rebuild,i have put on underdrives and a off-road x-pipe.last time i went to the track I pulled a best of 13.6 . I would have thought that it would have gave me more than a tenth. I have 60 ft times etc. if that would help,or am I pretty close to what I should be running?ANY INPUT Would be great,
Thanks 01 GT Convertible

To me, that seems like a real good number. What rmp did you launch? What was your shift point?
You ran faster than my buddy's Cobra vert. My buddy with 96 Cobra ran 13.98 @ 100. And he had hard time getting that. As for me, it was my first time and ran as follow: R/T --- .672 60' --- 2.183 1/8 ---9.607 @ 74.73 1/4 --- 14.88 @ 93.57 Is this good or bad? Can anyone tell me what I should be running. I am running 3.73, no muffler and pullies. I'd appreciate any input and constructive criticism.

I launched at around 3000rpm, on street tires.I found one of the timeslips .It reads as follows:
R/T .612 60ft 2.106 330 5.794 1/8 ET 9.02 1/8 mph 79.01 1000 et 11.64 1000 mph 91.23 1/4 et 13.73 1/4 mph 99.07 says winner too Plan on running drag radials in 2 weeks,we'll see what happens thanks again

shoyoas - if that seems slow to you you should run yours; it's probably in the 15s.

14.88 doesn't seem too far off. You could probably shave a bit off with a quicker reaction. I haven't been to the track in years (my first and only time), but my reaction time was nothing to right home about. I raced my neighbor's 2000 GT convertible last summer and got him by about a car length. Mine was running pretty strong that day (favorable atmospheric conditions, etc.). I need to get to the track again, but I think I still run between 14.1 and 14.4. It's still stock, except for a drop in K&N. Hope that gives you a basis for comparison.
By the way, my neighbor got a K&N cold air intake and chip for his GT and I've got a Lingenfelter cold air intake and a desensitized knock module to install. We're going to line them up again and see what they do.

Shoyas, Marauder runs 14.9 !?!?
It's probably due to its weight. Marauder has 80 horsepower on me. 98 GT only has 225 HP at the crank and the Marauder has 305HP(right?). I do agree with Shaun that my reaction time can be better. The best reaction time I got was .528 sec. But I ran 15.2 with that one. Too much wheel spin. Shaun, that 14.1 -14.4.... are you talking about your TA or you have a 96-98 GT that ran 14's. If you do, I'd love to know how you did it. That would be fantastic. But with my abilities, I couldn't do it. At least not that night. I considered myself lucky to get that with full tank of gas and a passenger (and a fat one at that). Thanks, guys. I think I should stick to road racing (4 year veteran).

Ok, I could've been wrong. I just tought that with your gears and other mods you should be faster. What does a bone stock 01 GT run? My 99 Cobra went 13.8@104 with a horrible 2.24 60 ft!
As for this 97 Vert, I know it's 15ish right now but I've got 4.10's in the back seat right now and 01 ported PI heads on the way. And that's just for starters. (asuming I keep it)

Don't forget to take in atmospheric conditions in to consideration. You can take the same car to the track 2 days and have 2 different time slips!

GTVert - Your times are pretty good. When my '00 GT only had 3.73 gears and exhaust I ran 79 mph all day in the 8th (never ran int on a 1/4 setup that way), which is what your car ran, and a convertible is heavier. Your 60 foot time I consider to be strong for running on street tires.

Well, looks like I have one of the quicker 96-98 GT's on this board.
Guys, work on those 60' times. If you can get them in the 1.8 - 1.7 range, your times will improve almost exponentially. If anyone wants some tips on how to launch on drag radials, PM me, or just post here.

so you guys know, your reaction time has nothing to do with your ET. your ET starts when you break the lights not when the light turns green.... so you could have a 25 second light and still run a 13.8.
your times match your speeds, in my 69 mustang i run 13.71 at 100mph 60= 2.04 1/8= 8.82 @ 80mph 1/4= 13.71 @ at 100 i got 3.55 gears also. i know my car isnt the same but numbers are very close. i dont know about mods and all that where you should be but you got a very quick car for being street legal comparitivly. |
