Hypertech Programmer
Just had a few questions on the hypertech programmers:
1.) If I understand right, the reprogramming the hypertech gives your car was designed with stock intake/exhaust components in mind. If I were to add a cold air intake system, and an H or X pipe, long headers or other components, would this throw off the hypertechs tuning? 2.) Where is the best place to buy one of these programmers, or what is a fair price for one? 3.) Is there a better programmer for the mustang than the hypertech? Thanks, xto 2000 GT Convertible, Stick, 20k miles |

1. more than likely call the manufacturer 2.buying a custom burned chip from a reputable place like steeda is a much better way to go but i think the programmer are like 180.00 or more

The Programmer will let you calibrate the speedo for both gears and tire height(by 1/4 inch).
I called Hypertech, and they said that minor mods wouldnt affect the tuning reprogram. Most likely wouldnt work for a supercharged engine though. I'd really like to know what a good price for one of these is. The best I could find was about $300. Does anyone own one of these? Are they a waste of money? Where can I get one cheep? Thanks again, xto |

I have a 01 gt convertible, and a hypertech programmer.
Since there is no speedo gear to change in the newer transmissions, There are only 2 choices if you get gears. 1)buy a speedo recalibration box (like $100) 2)get a programmer, and pick up some extra horsepower plus have the option change rev limiter, top speed, etc. You can notice a difference when you program your car immediately.I was actually surprised.only takes like 20 mins to program it.I have an x-pipe, cold air induction, steeda underdrives, and a few other things and can tell nothing wrong with streetability, idles and runs great.I paid close to $300 for mine, but I would do it again.Hope this helps.
