when is it time for new plug wires?

i gotta 98 with around 100k on the clock would it help my performance at all to go ahead and give it some new plug wires and if so what are best resonably priced ones to get....

It's time. I paid $ 40.00 bucks from Roush for a set of red 9mm high performance wires. Try Roush .com or any of the other car sites.

hehe www.roush.com isnt it, its the pilsbury doughboy page! www.roushperf.com seems to be the roush site, but i couldnt find the wires looking real quick.

How about your plugs? Have you replaced those recently?

I would recommend FRPP 9mm plug wires but mine only lasted two years in this heat. I hear that "LiveWires" are really good.

I don't think you are going to be able to find wires in green... red, blue and yellow (besides black) are usually the colors offered.

Taylor makes a good set of wires for the 4.6...FRPP's have a history of not lasting long at all. (from my experience as well as others)

BTW, your not going to feel any difference in performance if your car runs good already...and change them plugs.

Plugs are another story, everyone has different experiences...but I can tell you that NGK V power plugs are used by many Mustang performance enthusiast. Plain old copper plugs work well also, don't waste your cash on Bosch +4's or +2's...they are a WASTE.

My FRPP wires didn't even last 2 years, maybe 1.5 before my engine would break up under accelleration. I since installed a set of Crane Cam's Firewires and they seem to be holding up just fine. They're not as pretty as the FRPP wires, but who cares.
I would run plain old copper plugs. They perform very well and are cheap enough to replace as often as you want.

Slow...If I'm not mistaken, Steeda and FRPP wires are made by the same manufacturer (they are just stamped with a brand name). As far as plugs, for your application use the recommended stock plugs...unless your Supercharging.

Basically getting new wires and plugs will smooth out ignition and power curve (less loss of spark in the upper RPM) a tad bit. The stock coils put out alot of volts so the ignition system is pretty efficient (32,000v to 35,000v if I'm not mistaken).

The motorsports are FRPP wires... and as I stated earlier, mine only lasted 2 years before they started breaking. Nice looking wire but they fall apart too quick...

Try the Taylors or the Livewires...
