Default I need info about the Mach 1 package.

What's the deal with the shaker system? It's like 1 grand. What does it do?Does it add power or is it just there to look good? And what does it do exactly?

It's suppose to "ram" the air into the engine. However if you look at the whole system I doubt it does anything.

It does look cool, though! I think it kicks *****! If the dealer that had my 2002 vert had any kind of financing deals, there would be a Mach 1 in my driveway not a 2002 vert!

Mach1 kicks butt, but i couldn't find a cheap one.To me it looks like the air is beeing routed from the scoop to where the stock air filter is,and then to the throttle body. And the piping looks very restrictive to me too.But is that all there is to it though?I mean it costs 1000 bucks.

You mean what the difference is between a Mach 1 and GT?

Mach 1 has the following:

4.6L - DOHC 305 HP
Shaker hood
Chin Spoiler
Special rims
Special wing
Special colors and stripes
Chrome exhaust tips
3.55 Rear gears
Special instrument panel
brushed aluminum interior parts
special leather seats

It is one kick *** car!

You are correct, it basically routes more air into the engine. It also has an air pickup from under the front valance as well. It isnt restrictive like it seems to look rather increases the amount of cool air reaching the intake. At speeds above 80 mph you can sometimes actually hear the shaker sucking air in, kinda cool. Increased cooler air flow at higher speeds is a good thing. Some have even called the system a poor mans supercharger. Actually, if you close of the air pickup from the valance and removing the heated air near the road surface, you can get better gains from the system as a whole. Ford merely added the valance pickup as a backup in case something were to get trapped in the scoop( small birds, chevys) and blocked the air flow. Hope this helps.

Well i was thinking about getting the scoop and everything, but it's too expensive and it probabl doesn't add enough power to justify the high price.

The Mach I also has Cobra sized brakes and stiffer springs and dampers than a GT.
