Where to Start
Alright I got the 2001 Cobra #384. Where do I start. I want Exhaust. Going with ya'lls advice and getting the FR500 exhaust. Having a hard time finding who sells it other than Gene Evans Ford. What Headers and What off-road H-pipe. Long tube or short tube? Also how bout underdrive pullies? Steeda Tri-ax Shifter?
I read that Fenderwell Cold Air Induction is a Must for the High HP cars, but so many people say that CAI is a Waste of money. Does anyone know what mods will effect the Warranty? I need to know which ones to look at now and ones to look at once the warranty is up. Any help will be much appricated.

Go with long tubes cause they will really help your low end torque and go with an X not a H pipe the X pipes sound and perform better on the DOHC cobras.
Leave the stock CAI and leave the air silencer in. I went consistantly slower when I removed my silencer at the track. Trust me on this though get the 03 cobra pinion brace. 99-01 cobras have bad wheel hop 03's dont its cause of the pinion brace. Then get some 4.10's or 4.30's and your car will be fast enough to scare the hell out of you. And I warn you the long tube header install is an all day job get some friends to help you. Also ditch the 245's in the rear and get some 275's they look alot better. Later,

Thanks man. Where do I get the '03 Pinion brace at? Do you know how the FR500 sounds? I have heard mixed fellings on the sound.

Yes the FR 500 does have a somewhat raspy race car sound @WOT.
But it makes killer power. A for real 10-12 RWHP You can get the 03 cobra pinion brace from the Ford house. If I were you I would just get an X-pipe and the cat-back, pinion brace and some gears. It will be plenty fast. All I am gonna do to mine is change out the springs with some Ford racing 2 inch drop springsd cause I am tired of the off raod 4X4 look if you know what I mean.

So I am not the only one that thinks it looks like an offroad vechicle. Do you know what effects the warranty? I heard an X-pipe woould but a cat-back would not.

Shifter, exhaust, and exhaust would be my first mods. I've gotten so used to my Tri-Ax, I drove my friend's '02 GT the other day and was disgusted by the stock shifter! Does this mean you're not putting the Windsor in the coupe now? ~Brian

That is the way it looks. Unless I can come up with some extra money soon. I was hoping to get the cobra to put the Windsor into the coupe. So I would have another driver but plans went wrong.

You can do what ever you want form the manifolds back to the exhaust is what I was told and still have warranty.
Things to be careful of are the stock throw out bearings are awful I had to change mine out at 7000 miles that wasnt covered by warranty. 2 of my friends had to change theres too. MY a/c compressor has went out 3 times and my car only has 13 thousand miles on it. They say the compressor clutch cant handle 7 thousand rpm's ......Thankfully that was covered by warranty. Get 4.10 or 4.30 gears 1st. That might be all the performance you need
