Your running a spool on the street? I understand run it hard and straight, but you said rain or shine on the street too didn't you? Not worried about breaking the axle or spool when turning?

its fine when running a radial tire the tire just skips a little in tight turns and bad at all

real tight turns like u-turns suck but hey so does going to track just to have 400$ eaton blow the spider gears
I would rather break a 180 spool or a 155 dollar axle

Ok,
I never was a fan of the eaton carrier. My auburn pro has never let me down. But watch, now it will break.
Many passes in the 10.'s w/ last combo in a 3300 pound car and had no problems.
But cool, I was considering the 33 spline axles and spool myself for this year.

its not all that bad on the street
at speed(over 15mph) it cause extra body roll

like i said it just the tight right turns that are a pain

now if my car was still a d/d then i would have gone with a eaton or auburn even though there are some that d/d with spools
bill p(mustang92) is one and has for over 2 years (i think)

well anyway I really hope you can hit your goal there nothing better the setting a goal and making it

lotta talk about eaton & auborn...

why not a detroit locker??
or atleast a detroit clutchless limited slip??

I run the full locker in my truck, I LOVE it!!! no problems ever!!
And I run 38.5" tires on the 8.8 axle!

I will be putting a detroit locker in the stang, when the stock limited slip gives out.

I chose the spool over the locker for 2 reasons 1 is price I got the whole setup spool, axles and c-clip elims for 570 shipped so that is the price of the locker alone, plus the locker even as strong as it is can and never will be as strong as a spool and as much as I go to the track I need it to be strong(drag srtips is only 7 miles from my house)

Well just to let you know.. my boss runs stock cars, road coarse & oval track... 800 HP...

I've seen a few broken spools

since they switched to Detroit products... nothing broken or damaged!

And like I said before I run the full detroit locker in my F-150 thats lifted 11.5"s and running 38.5" tires on it... never broke a detroit locker.

Yeah I know they are expensive, BUT they are garunteed!
And they'll save ya from breaking axle shafts and ujoints...

It's clutchless, so it never wears out, but it does allow for one wheel to spin around corners (only when your off the gas though)
So I think its better than a spool for people who drive it daily as well. But your right, you only race yours!

So I'll be going with the detroit when it comes time to rebuild the rear end

they might be running a mini spool I dont see any road race or oval track car running full spool because it does not allow the rear tires to spin at diff. speeds I run a full spool which is only for drag racing and there is no way a locker is stronger a locker still has teeth and they can still break the spool im running has been used in many pro drag cars running 1000+ hp with almost none broken
