Default Bummer SLP stuff on B/O

Went to order the SLP X-pipe and catback exhuast along with the SLP pullies.

X-pipe in stock

Exhaust 2 weeks out

Pullies 6 weeks out.

None of it a really big deal though.

BTW, anybody have the SLP X-pipe/Loud mouth combo on thier cars?

Also planning on putting in 3.73's along with the Steeda Calibration kit (Cold Air plus flashed computer)

Any thoughts?

SLP has pullies now? F-me! How do they compare to the Steedas I wonder.

I love my Catback!!! No X pipe, yet. Loud enough already for the vert.

I heard nothing but good about SLP stuff

but I would stay away from the n/a kit (700$)

I would get this
4.10 gears 150
drop in K&N 50
and a timing adjuster 140
speedcal 100
and a plenum of your liking 140-200

total 600 saving of 100 and the car will be faster for what ever use you would like

cai are worthless on a near stock car
3.73 gears are great for a supercharged car but not one on all motor

this way you get more for your money

It just depends on what your plans for the car are. Even though most of us are, not all of us are all about drag racing. If I wasnt into it, I would never consider 4.10's. I have 3.73's in my 90 and they are great for a daily driven street stang. I am considering 3.90's for my 01, but would never throw 4.10's in it. They are just too steep for what I use the car for.

But, if drag racing is your gig, Josh is 100% right. Skip the 3.73's and get AT LEAST 4.10's.

they are not too steep for a daily driver
I drove mine 90 miles a day round trip for 2 years both highway and city

and no they are not just for drag racing I would have gone with them even if I never raced

I have been in a 03 GT with 3.73s when I had my stock 3.27(crap)
and they SUCK compared to 4.10s

that guy has since gotton rid of them and gone with 4.30s and his is a d/d and he loves them

Can you tell me why you are such a fun of TA's? I don't doubt it, I was just never sold on them.

Here are my reasons and it may come from ignorance.

TA's advance timing the same amount at all rpms. Is this good? Most chips advance timing as the stock computer does...more at higher rpms.

With a TA, you can't calibrate your speedo or do other things that a chip/programmer can do.

I can see how a frequent drag racer might like it, a few quick clicks and you have advanced it. Want racing fuel, and you just bump it up more.

I suppose with any mod, it all depends how you drive the car.

BTW, 4.10's are fine!!! I would have gone with 3.73 if my car was a daily driver, but now that I have the 4.10's, I can't imagine anything else.

if your looking for every last hp yes then go with a chip(but as a last add on)

put it this way the only chip worth getting is one tuned on a dyno for your car not a mail order one

and most dont have 400-700 sitting around for 5-15 hp

yes a chip can do 100x more then a t/a but it is not needed for almost stock car

and when the time come that you need a chiop you can sell the t/a and speed cal and make a lot of your money back

I bought my speed cal for 89 (sold it on ebay went for 85)
bought my t/a for 139.00 sold it for 125 on ebay

so I spent 228 for them new used them for 1.5 years and sold them for 210

and the only reason I even got a chip at this time was for the 2 step and a nitrous tune
other wise I picked up 3hp for the sct chip over the t/a and it cost me 500$

tell me if speeding almost 300$ more is worth 3hp and 5tq

it was for me to save the motor from going super lean when the nitrous was hit

Was checking on long tubes from SLP, mailed the tech guys about tranny clearence when it comes time to put in a new clutch. They say you have to drop the SLP headers to get clearence to the trans. I've heard mention that hooker headers allow enough clearence to swap clutches withouth dropping the headers. however I'm still not sold on the trouble of installing any long tube when it comes to other maintence work and interference. I've been tossing around the idea of getting a mid length header, but havent seen any relavent data on them. Are they marginally better than shorties (which I know to be about zero better than stock exhaust manifolds)?

I got 4:10s on my Stang back when it had the stock motor in it. Didnt hurt daily driving all that much. Actually helped around town, but once you get out in the country and can let your cars legs stretch a little, then you might notice a drop in your gas mileage of course. Its not all that bad. And made it fun as hell to drive...wow.

The diffrence from 3:90's to 4:10's is negligable rpm wise at 60 MPH, and the gas mileage diffrence would be that also.

I drive my stang everyday to and from work, about 40 miles round trip. As long as I short shift the hell out of it I get decent gas mileage.

The headers I got are full length. Cant remember what company I got them from (Off of E-bay). There pretty nice, primaries and collectors are two large for a stock car (They might make smaller ones), but I was able to attach the Headers, Tranny to the engine on the stand and drop the whole shabang between the fenders with no problem..took like 3 minutes to get it in. The headers also give you clearance to drop down the tranny for service.

There pretty awesome. I'll get the name of the company and pass it on.
