Exclamation HorsePower

Any one have any idea on aproximatly how much HP the '97 GT 4.6L is stocked with. Only add ons i have is a K&N air filter, Flowmaster, and air & fuel mixer.

Well actually im in a situation right now too where i dont know if it is the 4.6L in it. You see the guy told me that where he bought the car had rebuilt the engine(4.6L). Well i was looking at the Mustang and Ford trader magazine that HE found this car in , and it list as it haveing a brand new 5.0 engine. I have been trying to get in touch with the company that did the motor work for a couple days now, without any luck. So i am hopeing the guy missunderstood . Plus i wanted the car so bad i just jumped in and bought, and never thought of asking about the paper work for the new motor till a day later.

The 5.0 and the 4.6 look totally different.

If there is a small square metal box on top of the motor with a horse on it, that's the 4.6 upper intake. If it does not have that, it will have a larger almot T shaped piece and be the 5.0. Also, the alternator should be on top in the middle of the motor if it's a 4.6.

Stock, the 97 4.6 had 215bhp, so with the K&n and flows it wouldn't pick up more than 10 at the crank, you're not really looking at a tire melter there. Don't worry, I have one and its still fun.

Pop the hood and look at some pictures of the 5.0 and 4.6. it's REALLY easy to tell them apart..

Man, I am with The Duece on this one. The two motors are night and day different. Go to a Ford dealer and pop the hood on a late model Mustang.

If it is a 5.0, some people will think you made out well.
