Default 5.0 swap and the computor

Did search on this but did not find to much out I’m really confused on this computer stuff Im doing a 5.0 swap, the car 92 2.3 the donor 85GT motor 86 and it’s carb I guess what confuses me is what does the computer control? Is it only the motor? What about the interior gauges? Are they tied into the computer?
And the fuel pump this confuses me, why must it be changed? can’t you use the one in the tank with a regulator to adjust the fuel pressure?

You probly be better off asking in the Windsar section. The seem to know more about the 5.0 then the Modualr(4.6 5.4) section

The fuel pump may need changing because it doesn't have a high enough flow rate for the 5.0. If it doesn't flow enough even with a regulator it'll cause the mixture to lean out.
