Re: best way to make exhaust louder?
Go straight headers that should be plenty loud enough. what size tube do they use on stock setups. Do you know if your 40 series are chambered or anything?

Re: best way to make exhaust louder?
i live in southern cal, i cant just run headers. like i said i got stock setup which is 2.25 pipes. also it is 2 chamber(40series). my thought is if i put high flows cats it would make it louder but not extremely loud. what do u think?

Re: best way to make exhaust louder?
I was just kidding about the open headers thing...high flow cats would help out, also a larger pipe would help. if you went with a catback system and went with high flow cats that should help solve your prob.

Re: best way to make exhaust louder?
use 3 1/2 inch all the way you only need 2 cats on a mustang thay will still pass emissions stock mustangs have 4 cats. 4 inch tips and headers or not will be hella loud dont get high flow cats cuts down on hp need the back pressure

Re: best way to make exhaust louder?
You'd lose a ton of low end if you went 3.5", plus the most of the biggest aftermarket catbacks are 3" (which is still too big unless you have forced induction). The easiest way to make it loud is to run an offroad H- or X-pipe. But if you need to run cats a crossover pipe with just 2 high flows will definitely help. My friend runs longtubes with a catted H and MAC mufflers and his is really loud for a catted car.

Re: best way to make exhaust louder?
Just get an SLP Loudmouth Catback. Problem solved!

Re: best way to make exhaust louder?
There is an 04 Cobra in my town with SLP Off-Road X Pipe and SLP Loudmouth catback. I saw him at the carwash talking to my son, I left and drove home, about a mile away. When I was getting out of my car, I heard him leave the carwash and KNEW it was him, Chad said he wasn't even getting on it!
