New Suspension for Bigger Rear Wheels?
I have a '98 GT convertible. Contemplating new wheels and tire. Looking on Tire Rack at 18 x 8.5 on the front and 18 x 9.5 on the rear. Will larger wheels and tires work on the rear with the stock suspension, or does the rear suspension need to be upgraded as well? I don't want to create any handling problems.

Re: New Suspension for Bigger Rear Wheels?
on my 98 gt i have 275/40/17's and they actually hold the road better. I know they well fit with out any problems. You may get into a problem if you run lik 10.5 or 11 inch -- then you would need spacers so it can clear the fender walls.

Re: New Suspension for Bigger Rear Wheels?
Agreed, you shouldn't run into any problems at those sizes (8.5 or 9.5).
Although if it sounds like a good excuse to upgrade controls and shocks .... by all means!!!!! |
