Post timing adjuster

I tried the new Steeda timing adjuster
my car. I was disappointed with the results. I tried all kinds of combinations
of gap and advance. I finally went back to
10 degrees ( stock ) and it still did'nt
run well. I took it off. The car runs better
w/o it. Any one else have similar problems?

My personal feeling on this item is that the best results may occur from super-charged applications only... Just my opinion ;-)

Just how much did it set you back anyway?

I agree, I think the best applicaton is on supercharged motors where you need to pull out timing.
It cost me $179. Now it's back in the box.
maybe I'll find someone else that wants it.

Question

So if this timing adjuster doesn't work w/o a supercharged motor and there's no manual timing adjustment (from another post), then how can I adjust the timing on my 98GT?

I've talked to the folks at Steeda. they say that their Timing adjuster works. "It allows you to manually adjust the timing". The I had was detonation. Steeda says other folks have'nt had that problem. The only other way to alter the timing would be a costom burnt chip. Everything i've read on custonm chips
only showed improvements with superchargers.
So...I don't know what to try. Five more
Hp wasn't worth the effort it was taking to
get the Adjuster set up.

Be careful with those timing adjusters! I read horror stories on corral.net - some guys were experiencing the same results and kept trying to tweak it and others must not have installed it correctly. Both ended up destroying the motor.

From what I heard, it's sounds like it's just not worth the headache (or risk) for a few HP.
