How much flywheel hp?
Just wondering an estimate on flywheel hp for a 96 GT(S), 5 spd with the following mods:
- air silencer removed - K&N filter - catalytic H-pipe - Dynomax Super Turbo muffler - underdrive pulleys |

I'm guessin after adding it up to be about 269 at the flywheel.

Pardon my stupidity, but what is the S in GT(S) stand for?
A stock 96 usually makes around 210 HP at the flywheel. the 98's increased that a bit to 225 HP stock. I would add about 15-20 horses to that with your mods. Around 225-230... Sorry Killer, but unless that "S" means something, 269 horses would surprise me... ------------------ 98 GT Dyno-Max cat-back exhaust, 3.73 gears, Steeda shifter, Ford Motorsport Underdrive pullies, 87mm MAF and Roush cold air kit... |

I thought 96's came with 215 hp at the engine? I was hoping I'd be in the 235-240hp (at the engine) range after those mods.
The GT(S) is kind of like a stripped down GT. It has the same 4.6L V8 but it lacks a couple items. They DON'T have pw, pl, cruise, foglights. Usually they came with no rear spoiler but a lot of times the dealer installed one. I believe they all had the base cloth interior. Not sure what else it doesn't have. I don't know about the loaded GT's, but I don't have a power trunk release. |

Thanks for the update with the "S" code Dino...
I'm not at home so I don't have my books to research the exact HP rating for your 96. I'm almost positive it is either 210 or 215 at the flywheel stock. Either way, 225-235 HP would be a good range to base a guess on. Of course, the only real way to know is to get your car on a dyno..;-) ------------------ 98 GT Dyno-Max cat-back exhaust, 3.73 gears, Steeda shifter, Ford Motorsport Underdrive pullies, 87mm MAF and Roush cold air kit... |

I believe that a '96 makes 215 hp from the factory. As for the mods, I would say:
Removed Air Silencer: 2-3 K&N: 3-4 H-Pipe: 9-10 Mufflers: 4-5 Pulleys: 8-9 I would say you've increased power by: 26-31 hp So the flywheel hp should be close to: 241-246 |
