No, I read somewhere that adding a lower thermostat will actually hurt your performance because your engine is design to operate best at it's normal operating temperature. Increasing or decreasing the N.O.T. will just lead to problems and decreased performance... Don't do it...
By the way, I think I read it on the MAC website. www.macperformance.com it's either under FAQ's or the info about adding headers section... ------------------ 2000 GT Conv. 5speed Triple Black Current Mods: K&N, Mobile 1 ET: 14.6@99.8 (Bogged) Upcoming Mods: BBK Longtubes, BBK H-pipe w/cats, MagnaFlow Cat-Back, and much much more |

No I haven't found one, actually I haven't looked for one yet. I was assuming that it is a standard T-stat. Only instead of mounting in the engine it mounts inline with the hoses is a housing.
I had a full size Bronco with a 351 and changed the 195 to a 180. There was a noticable increase in power. Have you guys seen the ad for Hypertech chips? They have a package that includes underdrive pulleys, a chip, and a "powerstat" which is a 160 deg t-stat. You probably need that chip to properly run with a 160 deg t-stat, huh. Thanks for the feedback! ------------------ '97 Cobra, K&N, Rio Red 3.73s (soon) |
