I totaly agree with Cobrayankee, I have never seen one hit a 13, but people are saying that they run 13.69 I have beat 2 of them and my car runs a low 14 maybe a high 13 with good traction. The ******* cobra has 60 more horses and barely runs a 13.6 stock.

14.02@96.91 with a 2.17 short time in 70* weather last January. Bone stock, paper filter, silencer, stock rubber, spare tire and jack included. 3580lb race weight with driver, 1000 miles on the motor.
Best time slip is in my sig but the car is good for a 13.2x's once I figure out why it's shutting off 40ft shy of the traps. ------------------ 00 GT, K&N, MAC Tree Killer, Pullies, 4.10’s, 2 chamber Flowmasters, UPR shifter, Weld Pro Stars, Nitto DR’s 13.35@100.02 (1.88 60ft) 88 LX coupe X-FHP, 12pt Cage, UPR K-member, 31 spline rear, full spool, more to come |

I don't have any times for mine but I agree with the previous posts, 13.8 - 14.6. I have personally seen some run 13.9s at the track. Although the Cobra is claimed to have 320hp stock, I think those estimates are a little bit high (close), even with the fix. A new GT dynoed at 273.6 (publication?). That's a good deal more than the claimed 260hp from Ford. Plus the Cobra, I believe, is hindered by the IRS. Then throw in different drivers and conditions that create discrepancies. Everything is not apples to apples when making comparisons. IMHO a Cobra with 320hp should run in the low 13s but Ford obviously didn't get the car right.

You misunderstood me. It's not 273.6 rwhp, it's at the crank. Please reread my post. I by no means think a GT will hang with a Cobra or a Z28 or SS. Based on the claimed 320hp for the Cobra, I just think they should run quicker than what they supposedly do. Some will run a little quicker, some a little slower. That's all, I'm not trying to create a conflict. Yes, Bad Dad, has some real good numbers from what I remember from his posts. Not sure of his mods. We can always check the Users' Rides section. |

Okay. I misunderstood. Most of the time when people post refer to hp, they mean rwhp. From what I've seen 273 is pretty reasonable, probably not typical, but reasonable for a 99-00 GT. And I don't think its all that hard for a GT to run with the Zs, the Ses, and the Snakes.
No conflict. You must of been reading some of my posts under "Ford wanta to void my warranty" today, huh? |

Ripper- Its incredible... (Stops to wipe tear away) that we can both have honest (key word), reasonable opinions and disagree on something, or misunderstand each other... and not call each other names.... Its beautiful...
Honestly 98%(at least) of the contributors to this board are exactly the same way, but I just have to become sarcastic and synical when a few people who seemed hell bent on starting something come a-calling... |

The only thing that concerns me about a post like this is the small population of Mod motor owners on this board. If all studies were performed with a sample size this small, we would all be in trouble. The corral.net has a timeslip index that lists 100s of times N/A, blown, & juice which makes for a much better place to get answers. The few people that have seen one or 2 run at a track under one condition at one location is a bit meanigless.

True. But that argument cuts both ways. If you have a large sample population (or site) then the crap becomes harder to wade though also.
I post on, and enjoy, the corral also, but I wonder how many useful, informative, posts get drowned out in the noise. On topics which are in question I believe if you have a few knowledgable people who are willing to have an honest open dialog, it is more productive then having many people, some of which know a lot, some of which know next to nothing, but each expresses a lot. There are some really, really, bad BBSs that have over 15,000 members. Clubsi for example. If this is stemming from the entire 97 Cobra vs. 99 GT debate, then look on the corral. Same arguement, more on both sides, maybe more experience and insight on each side, but several times more retoric and just plain crap on each side also. |

Damn 97, you almost confused me, but I think I get your point. My problem is, I will not accept information from 5.0 owners regarding the 4.6 because they don't have the experience or understand anything about them. The opinions will greatly differ, but the saying goes, no one knows the car like the owner.

I have a 2000 GT 5-speed, mods done are Mac cold air pipe and Mac 2-1/2" catback exhaust, these are only thing I have done to car. I use 275/50-15 Drag T/A's. My best run to date is 13.742@98.46 with a 1.916 60'time. I must admit many people are shocked to see my times at track and so am I sometimes. I do have the time slips to to prove my runs with 3 back to back 13's same day. 13.79, 13.89, 13.74 all launching at 3500rpm with motor cooled off till barely in the normal range(no ice used)
