Lightbulb Cool & Easy MAF MOD...

I read this somewhere on the net, did it & it does work.
I have a 97GT w/ a 4.6 so if you have the same this is worth 4 horses.
Take off you air filter box, remove the MAF unit.
You will need a # 10 ( I THINK) "Tamper proof" tork bit.
Take the actual MAF sensor out of the unit. It's the black plastic thing.
Put it somewhere SAFE.
If you look on the inside you will see the air sampling tube.
Right below it is a pillar that goes to the bottom of the MAF housing.
You can take of the back plate #12 (I Think)
Cut below the round sample point DO NOT CUT THE CIRCULAR HOUSING,,,, cut the bottom off as close as you can.
Make smooth with a dremel if you can.
Replace & it's worth the 4 horses, as I said above.
It WILL NOT mess with the computer & will do no harm toy your TANG.
I did it to my buddys car also & the results were like mine.
A small difference with out the cash out.
Good luck.
Let me know if anyone has any questions.

Old news...and it CAN mess things up. Your sensor is calibrated for the 80mm MAF WITH the post there. Removing it can change your A/F mixture, and has been known to give some ppl a CE light and cause surging.
Don't get me wrong, I did this on my 96GT and had no problems. But I wouldn't say it helped either. My Cobra came with a 77mm C&L which I replaced with the original MAF because I've heard of, and may have experienced, similar problems as stated above. Simply for the same reason. The C&L uses your factory sensor, whereas the Pro-M's come with a new sensor calibrated for that specific MAF.
I just want it to be clear that this procedure is not as "risk-free" as you think. Just because you didn't have any problems doesn't mean that the next guy won't...or you won't later.

I would not personally cut anything on the MAF, nor would I recommend anyone else to gut their MAF.
