Question Shifters

Which is better or preferred? Pro 5.0 or
Steeda Tri-ax shifter?

I've had both and wouldn't say one is better than the other. But, I like the Pro 5.0 better. Here's a breakdown...

Tri-ax Pros: adjustable height, shifter is closer to you, cool name, pretty color

Tri-ax Cons: Notchy feel, more gear noise.

Pro 5.0 Pros: shortest throw, good feel, no noise, solid construction.

Pr 5.0 Cons: shortest throw(you have to reach for 5th)

In order to have the best of both world's, some people are using the Pro 5.0 base with the Tri-ax handle. This way you can have the feel of the Pro 5.0 with the stick a little longer and closer to you.

Whichever you choose will feel 100% better than the stock shifter.

Thanks. I like the Pro
5.0. I believe one site offered the steel bushing kit, in order to use stock handle?

Thumbs up

I have the Steeda Tri-Ax, but have driven both, and I agree with T-Bone.

But I would put the "Notchy" feel in the Pro catagory. I actually like it better.

But I would also put an * next to gear noise. Particulary at low RPMS; the Steeda unit does transmit more gear noise.

(Shrugs shoulders) I think either one you will be happy with.

Cool

I have the B&M Ripper and it suits me fine. It's all personal preference and driving style that determines what's "best". As stated above, anything is better than stock.

It's true reaching for 5th takes some getting used to with the pro 5.0 but i thought they offer another handle that brings it back to you. ------------- 99 gt bassani xpipe, pro 5.0,

Thanks to all. Will go
with the 5.0, and use the offered bushing kit, in order to retain
the stock handle. Guess I'll have to suffer without the pretty color!

If anyone is considering the Steeda Tri-Ax then make sure you check out the Blue Thunder shifter by UPR. They are identical but come with a stronger aluminum shifter handle and are more affordable. I've had mine for 8 months now with no problems.
