air silencer and mods question??
my good friend just bought a '00 GT and we wanted to start modifiying it but before we dump a bunch of cash we want to do all the free stuff. as far as removing the air silencer, where is it and are there any tricks to taking it out?? also, does anyone know any good websites for 4.6 liter mods that show you how to advance the timing and other cool stuff?? i really don't know much about the 4.6's.
thanks, josh (i have a rather heavily modified '89 GT so i am pretty car smart) [This message has been edited by acidangel316 (edited 07-16-2001).] |

The air silencer is located in the front-passenger side corner of the engine bay. The silencer is the tube that goes from the air box to the fenderwell. There is some debate on whether this actually does anything for you though....
As far as the timing is concerned.... adjusting it will not be free. You have 2 options: 1. An aftermarket\custom chip 2. A Steeda timing adjuster... Hope this helps... ------------------ "The Yellowjacket" 381.8 rwhp 377.6 rwtq "Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups." |
