Question Looking at 1st modification on 01gt

I'm looking to do my first modification to my 01 GT. I'm going to do a K&N filter kit and a Steeda under drive pulley. I can only do one right now and my question is which do you think I should do first? By the way if your doing a under drive pulley kit you need to know that Ford changed the design of the water pump mid-way though the 2001 prodution year on the 4.6L. The 96-mid 2001 GT has a bowed outward face on the water pump pulley and the January and after has a depressed face on the pulley.(They shortened the water pump shaft)This requires a different pulley than the one used on kits prior to the change. As of now there is not a kit availible from Steeda for the newer models. They are working on it.

Cool

Depends on how much money you want to spend. There's a big difference between a $50 air filter and a $180 set of UD's. However, you'll probably get more performance from the pulley's for now but you still need to get the K&N in there, too. It's not that much, just do both. You'll gain more hp with the pullies than with the filter.

Since pulleys are a waste of money on the 2001GT. Spend the money on something that you will notice a difference, get the filter kit.

If your planning on bolt on street performance and everyday driver reliability, your headed in the "normal" direction. If you want a S/C, heads, intake, save your $$$. Most people start from top to bottom ie: filter, maf, underdrives, exaust, and gears. I'm very happy with my combo. BTW, the underdrives were the biggest gain in HP for me.

Tell where your pulling this statement from? Pullies are good for at least 10HP period.
