Post Is the 5.4 the same?

Is the 5.4 out of a 98 truck the same block and head design as the 2000 or newer. I can buy one from a friend for 250 bucks that he took out of his 98 20,000mile F250 to put in a diesel motor. I dont really want this motor but will get it to resale or trade for parts. Just wondering if it is interchangable with the new lightning stuff, is it dohc or what. It might make a good project motor for a racer. Thanks

Its a SOHC cam motor. It would make a nice motor for a mustang project. Besides you should be able to sell it for alot more than the 250 it will cost you to buy it.
