They seem to average 14.2 - 14.6 depending on driving.

See my sig. I'd say it's capable of 14.1 under perfect conditions though.

Hey, we are taking my brothers 4,000 mile, bone stock '99GT auto to the track Sat for some base times before we start modding it. I'll post what we can get out of it. we'll make some runs letting the tranny shift itself, then some runs with manual shifts.
Ohh yea, we are taking it to get dynotuned in Dec by a Master tuner, although I can't say who yet though So I will have some #'s as far as what HP an auto is putting down to the wheels. Then we'll be adding a 80mm MAF from a lightning, 70mm TB, U/D pulleys, and have the ECU reflashed w/ a custom program. Then we'll run it again and see what it pulls. Then, back off to the track! ------------------ 1997 Thunderbird 4.6L: Dynomax cat-back, MN-12 perf. offroad downtubes and Y-pipe w/ Magnaflow resonator, 80mm MAF with cone filter, B&M trans cooler, Inject-Tech chip, MAC U/D pulleys, KVR front brake upgrade, SVO 70mm TB. 15.2 @ 91 w/ just chip and MAF. 14's next time to the track. Tim C's brother in law (Who hangs out with us ) has a 2001 GT Convertable Auto, and he runs 14.6 at the track.
And he dont know CRAP about racing, thats not launching, and his moronic butt trying to shift it manually. With a decent driver and launching, he could probably turn in 14.3's or maybe a smidge lower. Basically stock Convertable. |

Why the **** is my car so slow then. Pulleys, X-pipe, exhaust, WTF? 14.5???!??! I only ran it once, this is what I did: I saw the green, mashed the gas, let it shift itself, and kept the pedal down till the end. Why could I only pull a 14.5? I mean, it was hot as hell out there and I had just driven 80miles to the track, so the engine was definitely hot, but would that make that much of a difference?

StoplightWarrior - Ok, there at least another 2 tenths or more in a good 60ft time on street tires. RT doesn't affect ET, so don't worry about that.
But your engine must have been pulling timing because of the heat, because your trap speed of 96.5 seems pretty low. You wouldn't believe what a difference a cool engine can make. Ice the intake while your waiting, this seems to work well with all motors, even if there isn't a lot of surface area to ice on the 4.6 manifold. You can also think about manually shifting your auto. I know from my brothers '99 auto that the shift points are hardly optimum. In fact I think that the trans fuction is so bad, that I am going to make a wild prediction. I think that my brothers car will pick up a solid 6 tenths after the custom program, and the MAF, pulleys, and TB. Thats a bold prediciton, but judging from my car and how my brother's car feels, I think its going to happen. I picked up 6tenths w/ only a chip and MAF. Not including a better program from the dyno tune, U/D pulleys and TB that he'll have. Heck, since he has PI heads, he might do better. ------------------ 1997 Thunderbird 4.6L: Dynomax cat-back, MN-12 perf. offroad downtubes and Y-pipe w/ Magnaflow resonator, 80mm MAF with cone filter, B&M trans cooler, Inject-Tech chip, MAC U/D pulleys, KVR front brake upgrade, SVO 70mm TB. 15.2 @ 91 w/ just chip and MAF. 14's next time to the track. At the track I run at, '99-01 Mustang GT's seem to be running 14.4-14.6 Autos are running slower. Quickest GT besides mine ran a 14.1(stick) I have yet to see a newer cobra run faster then 14.0

Stoplight Warrior,
What track are you running? The elevation may have something to do with your times. Could be terrible air conditions. My '98 GT runs 14.55/93.44 here at Houston Raceway Park. At Bristol, Tennessee FFW race (on a ******* big mountain) she was running 15.40's. We were seeing density altitude readings of over 4500 feet. ------------------ SD Wheeler M/M #30 '98 GT Strictly Performance MV Performance "The Game" |

Maybe his car is a freak, but I have a friend that turned out a few 13.7s and 13.8s in a bone stock '01 GT with 1600 miles on it. Only thing he did was pull out the spare and jack. I was amazed!

Damn, Freddie, looks like you got a freak!!! Also, SD Wheeler, I run at Sacramento Raceway. It's supposed to be a pretty good track. Although I did not see any good times the night I was there. I.E: LS1's running 13.9's, Mod cobras turning in 14.6's!! etc. So maybe it was the heat. Then again, the guy I ran pulled a 10.00 at 133!!!
