Default 2003 GT rack and pinion

On my 03 gt the steering rack creaks. I put the car on a lift and the entire rack shifts about 1/2 inch, which is where I assume the the creaking is coming from. I do not think it's coming from the inside of the rack. Any input on your thoughts as to where the noise is coming from would be appreciated. I plan on replacing the bushings to stabalize the rack. Any input is appreciated.

Bushings most likely suspect. Change them out and see what you have.

i had this issue occur when going over bumps and turning. i thought it was the rack and pinion and even the bushings, it turned out to be the arm bars. they look like a lower case L. the parts were about $90 for both, and installation was about $60. can you here the sound if you nudge the wheel to the side with your heel? this when the car is standing still.

if one is creeking, chances are the other will start to creek soon, have both looked at.

It turned out to be the bushings. I pulled the bolts out, threw in some greese, put it back together and the noise is gone. We'll see how long it lasts, at least I know what was making the noise.
