Question How much do DOHC's cost?

I'm looking to put a 1999 DOHC into a rolling chassis that I've had for a while now, how much on average to they run for new/used? I have located one that is complete w/wiring for $6000, should I jump on it, or is that pricey? The only thing I have to go by so far is SHM's DOHC that runs for about $8800. Thanks for the help, anything is appreciated!

Well, Mustangs Unlimited has the 4.6L 4V in their catalog. It looks like a 96-98 egine. It includes: manual transmission flywheel, exhaust manifolds, A/C compressor, alternator, P/S pump, and EFI harness. Computer and some wiring not included. The price is $6399.00

That SHM would be a good motor to get. And the $8000, is that in Canadian dollars. And the SHM motor is probably had some work done to it by SHM. So the SHM is probably the better deal.

Cool

Sean Hyland is overpriced. Shop around and you can find better deals than that. On the avg I've seen the DOHC for around $6000. Check salvage yards (though the most likely engine would not be the 99 but the 96-98), too. There's one here that carries late model motors like LT1s, etc. Check with Mustang Parts Specialties and see if they have or know where to get one. It's going to take some shopping. Pick up some mustang magazines and check ads in them, too. Good luck finding a 99 DOHC. You'd have much better luck getting a 96-98 DOHC and playin' with it.
