N/A Combo's for Modulars
Hi,
I am interested in all these modular cars getting so fast and was wondering what kinda combos/times people are running with their cars N/A. From what i have seen a 5.0 can make it into 11's all motor and stay Ca. Smog Legal, but i was wondering how fast any of you guys are with N/A combos and how fast they can be with staying Smog Legal. Thanks for any info Steven

Ken B. from modular depot has one of the fastest bolt on 2V cars, and a has gone something like 11.7's in his 2000 GT with the stock 4.6 liters. He has ported heads, ported Bullitt intake, cams, longtubes/full exhaust, other bolt ons, and a lot of weight reduction with a full suspension.
I imagine with cats and a retune, it could come darn close to passing a sniffer test. But the cams might be a bit aggressive for that. As for passing a visual inspection in CA, I don't think thats happening. Now, getting into 4V cars, there is even more room for power. Throw a stroker into it, yet more N/A power. But most of the fastest 2V cars I know of are sporting longtubes w/o cats, and custom cams. So technically they are not legal.

at this stage in the game I dont think it will happen now a 4v I think it could run 11s smog legal n/a but it would still be a long shot right now with the limited parts out for both motors

It could probably be done with a 2V car but it wouldn't be cheap. The 4V cars would be a better starting point for someone looking for a smog legal and 11 second car.

and on the sniffer I dont think cams or other mods that are out right now would pass now if we were talking 11s smog legal with a power adder then yes it can be done

Soon as I get my suspension done and take it to the track I'll let everyone know what its runs. Just gotta get my suspension done first. I'm hoping for low 12's...12.3 is my goal for the car as the motor sits now. With a few more tweaks and things I want to see 11's. I dont care if its an 11.99999999 but I want to see one.

thanks for the help guys, from what iv been researching mid to high 12's are not unreasonable or uncommon with bolt on car but to pull low low 12's or even high 11's im going to be getting into cams and stuff which is where im going to be getting into trouble. The only thing i can think of to "pass" smog would be to just keep the stock exhaust system for smog tests and get two chips burned, 1 for Street and the other way leaned out for smog tests if i had cams but anyway thanks for the help guys.

and you have a lot more mods then I do and look at say mustang92(bill p) he runs 11s with the stock short block and unported heads I know with the way my setup is now if I can get 60' down to a low 1.7 and with powershifting I dont see why I cant run a 12.9 and with some more weight taken out and long tubes run a mid 12 on motor and a 11 on spray just remember you build/race your car for you and no one else so who cares what others think IMO

Recent threads? I've had no problem backing up your claims. I've been in the role of underdog for 4 years so it's nothing new. Most people that don't think it can't happen are just in denial. I can't tell you how many people look my car over for power adders because they can't believe a modular powered car can go anywhere near that fast on muscle.

Unfortunately if you want to stay smog legal in CA the best way is to get a power adder and some traction.
