Post Cheep ponies

Greetings.I will soon be parking me 97GT for the winter and although some day I would like to supercharge it,I am curently looking for low dollar ways to get some extra power. It would be nice to have an edge over the other stock GTs next spring.Any ideas where my dollars will be best spent.

Start with a set of 3.73 gears along with a short throw shifter if you already don't have one. Also pulleys are always a good bang for the $.

Thumbs up

Like Snake said, pulleys and gears are always great to start with. Also, a good aftermarket x-pipe will help. The offroad ones (without cats) are a lot cheaper, and make a couple extra HP, but if it's illegal where you live, the cat pipes work really well too.

I am right there w/ 98SNAKE.
3:73's and a shifter should come first. Then you can throw on the H or X-pipe and pulleys.

The shifter sounds like a good idea, but the lower gears scare me as allot of my driving is highway.I like to drive real fast.

Well, unless you want to go like 160, the gears wont adversely affect your high speed driving, in fact, they will pull you to the limit faster than the stock gears. Granted, your gas mileage will suffer, but if you're driving like 120 all the time anyway, that isnt likely a great concern of yours in the first place.

A chip won't benefit you much right now. I'd wait on that until you have a few more mods, like heads, supercharger, you get what I'm saying. Then you would want to get a custom chip burned for your specific combo. Hope I helped.
