Default Horsepower and 1/4 times

Hello,

I have a 2001 Mustang Gt with the basic bolt ons.(Flowmaster 3 chamber exaust, Steeda X-pipe, timing adjuster, pullies, C and L mass air kit, 18 in wheels, springs, steeda front splitter, and Steeda rear wing) Im not sure if the body works will affect much in the 1/4 or not.

Anyway....curious what you think the 1/4 times will be and HP estimates.

Also I was thinking about getting a super charger. I was wondering what you thought about the Saleen root-type supercharger and the regular vortec supercharger.

One last thing, if I add a chip to my car without the supercharger how much will it help my 1/4 times and HP.

Sorry so long but I am dyeing to know the estimates of my car.

Thanks,

Bob

Damn, you've got almost the same setup as me. I would guess about 230hp at the wheels, and 13.7's with some sticky tires.

If you're going to get a blower, don't go with the roots type. The instant boost plus the steep gears will equal serious traction problems. Go with a centrifugal type blower like vortech or procharger. Good luck to you.

What are some other mods that I could put on my car that would add more horse powere w/o opening the engine(Heads, cranks, etc) Would Headers be good? I pretty much have all the basic bolt ons so far.

Wait a minute here. Do you have gears yet? If not, I'd change my original "13.7" to more like 14.0. If you're still running the stock gears, that should definitely be the next thing you change. Put some 4.10 gears and a chip in next. You'll love it.

Yes I do have 3.73. what did you mean put it on 13.7 or 14.0? I am planning on getting the chip real soon.

I meant that if you didn't have gears, I'd change my original estimate that you could run a 13.7 to a different guess that you'd run a 14.0. Yeah, I'd say to just go with a chip next, and then do up your suspension.

Hello all. Speaking of gears, a freind of mine is goin to get a 2002 Mustang GT. So, what are the choices for gears from the factory? He'll be getting a 5 sp. And he wants the best set up for 1/4 and off the line grunt.
Thanks.

Factory Gear Choices = 3.27 and..... well none! You can only get a 3.27 ring and pinion from the factory but who cares what comes stock. Get some 3.73's or 4.10's. For your friends car the 3.73's are better suited for the manual tranny. BSchacht6, get some MAC longtubes, a MAC prochamber and a Flowmaster American Thunder cat-back. Not only will your car sound sweet, but it will add some decent power too.

i THINK YOU WOULD BE BETTER OF WITH THE ROOTS STYLE, IT OFFER INSTANT TORQUE, WHICH IS WHAT EXCELERATES THE CAR, HORSEPOWER IS INDICATIVE OF YOUR TOP SPEED, YOU NEED TORQUE ON THE STREET, NOT HORSEPOWER.

SKIP THE CHIP.

Yeah I just dont know if I would kill myself with a supercharger. I really dont need to go that fast. Maybe I should just get NOS for when I go to the track?

Thanx,

Bob

What kind of times do you think I would get with Slicks? If so what sizes for my car and how much would it cost?

Thanx,

Bob

With a blower (running say, 9# boost) and slicks you should see very low 12's high 11's! That is what you should do next, if you're serious about the track! For the street, just get some Drag Radials. BF Goodrich and Nitto both make good sets.
