GT 40 heads are for 302\5.0s....

Your options are:
1. 99+ PI heads
2. Ford Motorsport heads

That is a overhead valve motor. The 289 was stock in '65 and they ran some variation of that block, until 1995. Windsor is the name of the plant where the engine was originally built (or designed) as opposed to Cleveland, where the 'hot' big block style 351 originated.

Your car is an overhead cam motor. It is 281 cubic inches, and the heads will not fit if you buy them. They have no cam in them to move the valves.

another option you have is the Fox Lake ported PI (99-up) heads.

theres a writeup on them in the oct 02 5.0 magazine, and they seem like an awesome set of heads.

They see 35rwhp gains over a mostly stock car with the unported PI heads, and as much as 70rwhp on a car with free flowing exhaust and intake.

Looks like you modular guys are starting to finally get some strong aftermarket support like us in the old 5.0 crowd

I read that article...it's really interesting. Fox has stage I, II, and III heads. They look like they'd give significant gains.

Anybody know what the compression would be w/ fox heads? As bad as the 99+??? The fox heads for the 302 start base at $995, the upgraded version is only $100 more. But, this is only the heads--no intake, as w/ the 99+ PI kits. If the c/r is less, you may eventually save money on gas...but looks like the 99+ kit is the better deal.

--Yes, I know we modulars don't have 302's, but they don't have a 4.6L price, or not one that I saw.

--Another side note, they say the average 302-347ci motor w/ basic bolt-ons (no power adders) averaged b/w 350-450 hp w/ these heads. Don't know if that's flywheel or rearwheel, but it seems like quite a bit...

They had a site a few weeks ago that showed if for just over 1k. That's the best--by far--anybody's seen. Search for it, you may find it in the archives.
