Which flomaster exhaust do you guys recommend for a 2001 mustang gt? And is a bassanni X-pipe good for it also?

The factory cat-back is rather unrestrictive. You really only need to get the mufflers you want and have them welded in to get the sound that you want. This saves you money anyway.
Bassani is one of the best for quality. A x-pipe adds a disticive sound that I think you wil really enojoy. You should see anywhere from 8-14Hp gain, depending if you choose one with or w/o cats. FYI- X-pipes were designed to be used with a straight through muffler such as a Dynomax Utra-Flo, Magnaflow, or something like that with no chambers or baffles. Supposedly you may not get "maximum" performance from your combo if you use a chambered muffler like a Flowmaster, but I really don't know how much HP we are talking on a stock engined car. It could only be 1hp at 5800rpms, I don't know. So you have to decide if you want every last HP, or get the sound YOU really want. IMO, I would go with the sound that I would want, but, I thought I would just give you a heads up. |

actually I would rather have the sound. Just as long as I get some improvement in HP I will be happy but I don't need every single one.
So what exhaust do you guys recommend to match up with the X-pipe? |

X-Pipes work best with straight-through designed mufflers like Borla, Bassani, and Magnaflow. A H-Pipe tipically responds better to chambered mufflers like Flowmaster.

What's the difference with the X and H-pipes? Which is better? I would like my car to sound more on the loud, deep and aggressive side.

Both X and H pipes will give you the loud aggressive sound you are looking for. Some people claim that the X-pipe is better due to its better flow path but I don't really know. If you want a good sound, it depends on the mufflers you choose. If you get chambered mufflers, go with the H-pipe. If you get straight through mufflers, go with the X-pipe. Either way, you'll have the deep, mean sound that you are looking for.

Before we get the exhaust think for a moment.
Are we going to get asupercharger? Maybe not tomorrow or next year but consider that first. Because if you want max power for later on down the road ... Long tubes are the way to go ... so you will want to mate you X-H pipe decision to that. Before we start spending that hard earned $$$ let's devise a plan on where to best put it. |

you just have to remember that all parts have to be emissons legal living in CA. Its big $ money if you get caught w/ parts that are not carb certified. You'll have to look into that when selecting your X-pipe.
