Post funny idle

got a 96 gt, and when the car is idling, no a/c on, it idles a bit rough. I was wondering if it was the spark plugs or dirty fuel injectors. I plan on doing both. Any other suggestions or types of fuel injector cleaner & spark plugs to use?

How does the car run when driving? How does it run at WOT?

Depending on your answer you could make sure that your TPS is in the correct range or Check your plugs. Have you changed the fuel filter lately?

Maybe give a little more detail and It will help in diagnosis.

So the car only idles rough when at idle...Does it make a difference if the engine is hot or cold?

Right now I would say check the TPS sensor voltage at idle. It should be between 0.5V and 1.0V. It is easy to check with a volt meter and could cause poor idle at any temp. with out having problems at higher RPM's.

If your check engine light comes on you should get the codes read. On the 96+ cars you need a special code reader. This will tell you what sensor the computer thinks is in error.

I still recommend testing the TPS, it's so easy to test, and could save you from having to pay for the code reader or having someone do it for you (unless you have a buddy with the code reader).

Let me know what your TPS voltage is or what code comes up.

If you put an off-road exhaust on the car your light is going to keep coming on. You would need to put MIL Elimnators on it or a new chip that corrects this problem. Mine had a different idle, not bad, but different and it ran fine at all rpm's. Hope that helps.

ok Im going to check the voltage, thanks. Not sure how but Ill figure it out.

How does your car sound with the 2 chamber flowmasters and hte offroad h-pipe, I have the same setup, (as of today around noon). Did you notice any noticable hp increase? Also, is it true that without the MIL eliminator, my timing will be retarded decreased hp by about 10-15? Thanks for all the help

I've never seen any dyno proof but that is what I have heard as well. Kinda like you gain some from the exhaust but loose on the timing. My first time at the track in august, I ran 14.3 stock, about 90 degrees. The next time was about 70 degrees and I had pulleys too and I ran 13.6 on streets.

Before the gears too. I wish I had some drag radials or slicks because I know I got alot more than that time.

Let me post one more time to be totally annoying (keep thinking of stuff too late). By August I meant 2 years ago and the sound I love. 2k rpm has a loud drone but most of the time it isn't that bad until you put your foot in it. To me it sounds weird inside but when my wife drives off in it it sounds like I expected it too. (by the way she's run it on the street more than I have!)
I'm not real impressed with my E.T. by the way. Dallas mustang has the MIL Eliminators for $60.
