Default Spark Plugs

Okay guys I just got a brand new ignition from MSD.MSD 6AL MSD Billter Distributer, and blaster 3 coil. The question is what kind of spark plugs would be best for a modified 306ci?

Another question fro the spark plugs. When i choose them, i have heard it helps a little to cut the electrode to the center electrode. Is it really worth it?

Please help....Thanx

It would help to know which cylinder heads you have. But anyway go with regular Motocraft copper plugs. Like ASWSF32C or ASF32C for Iron heads. For aluminum heads usually the AGSP32C will work fine. Yes the copper plugs do not last as long but they will give better short term performance. Remember that "high performance equal high maintinance". Is this a N/A engine or a power adder engine? That makes a big difference in plugs. Is it a Drag race only engine? High Compression? Ect ect ect ect............................................?

Then you need the Motorsport AWSF32C plugs. Gap them to about .046 thou. If you are looking at getting that last 1/10 of a H.P. then have the plugs indexed and "side gap" the plugs. It is a lot of hassel but it can make the difference on a finicky engine.

With the right cam and a set of AFR heads (or Holley) that engine would rock!

With the AFR head use the AGSP32C spark plug. Be sure to use just a dab of antisieze on the plug threads so the plugs do not gall on the aluminum when you have to pull them out later. The E cam is nice, BUT there are much better cams available. Technology has come a long way with cam profiles in the last 10 years since that E cam has come out.

Comp Cams Makes a real nice cam for your application. Do not have the part # in front of me but will get it tomorrow. I can also give you the spec's tomorrow. Works great in blower or turbo applications and even in N/A cars. Have this cam in a 65 F/B Mustang, stock 5.0 short block, Edelbrock heads, ported, Edelbrock Performer RPM, 750 Demon, 5 speed, 4.10:1 gears, Street tires, (Dunlop D40M2) JBA headers, 2 1/2" dual exhaust, 12.6 @ 114 in the 1/4 mile. Same cam in a 331 cid 93 convert. Kenne Bell supercharged 12 psi boost. Stock processor, stock fuel rails, lines, 444 H.P @ rear wheels! 480 lb/ft torque @ rear wheels! Car passed Oregon DEQ emissions test for '03 thru the cats! This cam WORKS!

Timming and fuel pressure will have to be figured out on a dyno with a wide band O2 sensor. Depends on how much boost, what size fuel injector, pump, rails, lines, ect. Timming same thing. Start conservitive with about 24 degrees total and go from there. Again depends on how much boost ect...........

Just curious...but why do you suggest gapping them at .046 when the stock gapping is .054?

What year you talking about Simi Stang? All of the 86- 93 5.0's that I know of (dose not mean I am right) have a stock gap setting of .042-.046. I know the 94-up went to the .054 gap. I am just going off of memory right now, you know how us "old" guy's get!
