Question 2001 Gt Mods?

What can I do to my 2001 Gt 5-speed for 5,000. Where would be the base to start. I already have the 2.5" flowmasters on her. Ant advice is appriciated.

Thanks

Umm, you have to give us some direction for what you want your car to be. You can do a wide range of mods for $5,000.

Street/Strip: Supercharger, 3:73 gears, shifter, subframes, drag springs, slicks- very deep into the 12's

Corner carver: Full suspension, wheels: 18x9 up front and 18x10.5 out back, H-pipe, U/D pulleys, bigger MAF, shifter, 3:73 gears

and theres so many different possibilities. Give us an idea.

1997 Thunderbird 4.6L: Dynomax exhaust, Lightning 80mm MAF, Accufab MAF adapter, 7" powerstack cone filter, B&M 24,000GVW trans cooler, Inject-Tech chip, many more to come...15.2 @ 91. Not bad for a 3800lb auto 4.6L

Cool

I dont wanna drag it. I want it to light the streets on fire. No real mods on the outside of it. I would like to keep it factory on the outside. Would love to put a supercharger on it. Is there a top of the line brand I should buy. Don't want no junk that will blow! not real crazy about doing over 100mph too. like to keep it under if possible. Thanks again

Cool

If you've got 5k to put down, its time for a supercharger....
For light to light races, the torque of the FMS roots type blower is great.
(Plus it looks kickin' under the hood)
For a little less torque but more boost\hp, I'd go with Vortech or Procharger....

Lightbulb

Get the roots blower for the street, makes a real torque monster. Sorry about the Flows you got stuck with you should get a Magnaflow cat back, makes more power and sounds better, IMHO.

I agree w/ the others and think that a roots style supercharger would be your best bet. Look at Ford motorsports, Saleen, or Kenne-Bell for a system. I would also add some subframe connectors and a shifter while your at it.
Then later you can always add an H-pipe, larger MAF, and a custom chip and you will maximize an already lethal street warrior.

Question

A friend of mine from a performance shop just told me that ford motorsports has a blower that is made by eaton. it produces 55 hp and bolts under the intake. cost is $1025.00 includes all hardware, intake, and cpu. this is about what I would need...nothing too powerful.

Also will adding this void my warrenty?
Thanks Joe

That sounds like the older blower for the 96-98 4.6's. And its a heck of a lot more then $1000. More like $2500 and then another $500 for the install kit. I am not sure what FMS has for the 99+ GT's, but because of the way better heads it should lay down at least 80HP+ and a hell of a lot of torque.

I know you can get the FMS and I think the Saleen installed by a authorized dealer and it should be fine with your warranty.

But if you get any blower installed by anyone else and you have engine or tranny problems, they are going to blame it on the blower and not honor your warranty. But remember, the dealer has to prove whatever aftermarket part you installed directly caused the problem.
