I have a mustang cobra and i use it as a day driver and street racing.
Would it be a better idea for me to get 3.55 Gears or 3.73 gears and what are the advatages and Disadvantages of each, if any. Thanks for your time and have a great day. |

Re: Gears 3.55 or 3.73
Neither.
For a Cobra, 4.30's or 4.56's.

Re: Gears 3.55 or 3.73
You already have 3.27's and 4v's love to rev. Anything less than at least 4.10's in your cal will be a waste of money. If you were really a racer you'd go with one of my original recommendations.
Heck, I know guys running 4.88's in your car.

Re: Gears 3.55 or 3.73
It depends on the size of the rear-end. 8.8's end up with 4.10's. It is Ford 8" and 9" that has a 4.11 ratio.

Re: Gears 3.55 or 3.73
Like the others said, go with 4.10s minimum for a 4V. The 4V powerband is much higher than a 5.0 or even a 2V so you need the extra gear. You will only lose 1-2 mpg on the highway and your revs won't be that high. It's not like an old non-overdrive tranny where you have a 1:1 ratio in your highest gear.
You won't lose any speed on your top end either. You'll be able to do over 120 in 4th and actually pull 5th.
