2000 GT ET
Well, a couple weeks ago, I thought about getting a Z28, but I quickly came to my senses, and It looks like Ill be getting a 2000 GT. It is just a coupe, and it is an Auto (commute daily). I am going to put on an H-pipe (w/ 2 cats), flows, a WMS cold air with 87mm mass air, and 4.10 gears for starters. I was wondering what sort of 1/4 times I can expect. Any ideas?

I'm not real sure on ET, so I don't want to guess, but good choice on 2000 GT. It's one fine Mustang! Let me know your ET when you get to the track.

Assuming everything is perfect, expect a 14.2-14.3 ET if you're a semi-experienced driver.
I'd save my money on the flows unless you have to have "the sound". An H or X pipe will help, as will an MAF. Don't know too much about automatics, so I don't know if 3.73s or 4.10s would be better. Maybe a shift kit? OK, automatic owners, its time to chime in... ------------------ "The Yellowjacket" 1998 Mustang GT 13.97@103 "Traction Impaired" or "Nitto Needy" |

Not an auto guy, but I think your tranny won't be too happy with 4.10s unless you get a chip and/or shift kit. Autoguys with gears can confirm or deny this, because I'm not 100% on that.
The H-hipe (or X-Pipe) is a good idea, and I had good luck with my MAF even though it is rather pricey. With all that, I would guess that you would be somewhere in the neighborhood of 14.0 give or take. |

With a little practice a stock auto GT will run 14.3-14.2's or so. From what I'm seeing and my experience don't bother with the WMS cold air unless you just like the look. The H-pipe will give you some power but an offroad will give a better gain. I love the 4.10's in my car but I'm not sure how the auto's handle the higher gear you may want to check around to see if there are any shifting problems.
With that set-up, some nitto's you should be in the 13's pretty easily. ------------------ 00 GT, K&N, MAC Tree Killer, Pullies, 4.10’s, 2 chamber Flowmasters, UPR shifter, Weld Pro Stars, Nitto DR’s 13.35@100.02 (1.88 60ft)MM#100 88 LX coupe X-FHP, 12pt Cage, UPR K-member, 31 spline rear, full spool, more to come |

Thanks for all the replies, guys. I will definitely look into the gear choice. As far as the flows though, yes, I must have the sound. Also, cause of the warranty, I cant be too crazy with the mods, but would a shiftkit void the warranty? I prob won't hit the track till spring, or summer. Thanks again.

Congrats on the new purchase. Enjoy!! Not certain if a shif kit will void your warranty but you should ask your service dept. Find someone cool to talk to and ask how they handle performance mods. You may get lucky and find how they are cool with it. Provide they get to do the installs. ------------------ SMOKE Personalized Black 98 SVO Blown ROUSH without the side exhaust |

As far as what your dealer thinks about mods, feel them out. Its hard to tell. Some dealers are very modification friendly. Some are very hard to work with. You have certain legal rights, but you have to fight for them if it comes down to that. Do a search and you can find more details on arguments people have had.

Everyone here will agree, hold out for a 5-speed!!!
Stock w/auto i think you'd run 14.0 - 14.5 With your mods, maybe 13.7 - 13.8? |

I have been looking into gears for my 2000 GT auto. You will NEED a chip to compensate for the speedo and shift points. I am getting mine through Johnson Motorsports. They can also adjust rev limit, shift firmness (negating the need for shift kit). The chip can be removed prior to taking car to dealer for warranty work as well. Cost is about 300.00. There really is NO other choice with an auto....and for those that are wondering an Abbott will not work with an auto. Hope this helped.
