Mid 13 sec. 4.6L Stocker?????????
Ive said it before and im gonna say it again I just dont get it. Went to the track April 28th Saturday night. There were many 4.6L GT's. Best run that I seen was A 14.58 @98mph witch is damn respectible for a bone stock car. How in the hell are some of the people on this board running mid 13's stock. Dont get me wrong I am not accusing people of lying I just want to know (WTF)! and yes they appeared to be good drivers. There was a 4.6L cobra running that had open headers slicks and has low gears and was only running a 13 flat @ 103mph. By the way a cobra with open headers screaming down the track sounds bad @ss. I am not bashing the people that posted these times I am just trying to understand.( I dont hate I appreciate)

Also what are the typical tempatures and humidities like at your track and at what elevation is it? What do LS1 F-bodies typically run there?

There are a few cars that have gone high 13's (13.6x's-13.9x's) but they are few and far between. They come down to the driver and track conditions. They are far from the norm. My car stock went 14.02@97.91 in less than favorable track conditions. I think you'll get there with some more time behind the wheel.

These cars that I spoke of were 5 speeds and were two thousand models. The air here isnt the greatest, I know for a fact that cars run a half a second faster in dallas but that still would not get you a mid 13 a 14 flat is believable but a mid 13 is a stretch.

I didn't believe it until I saw it. Check out the Lizard King's MPEGS! Ford should pay him to post times like that.
He's the only one I know who runs mid 13's box stock. ------------------ 1995 GT Black- Edelbrock 6037's,Intake,Edelbrock cam,70mm TB,75mm pro-m,Taylor wires, pulleys,Equal length headers,K&N filter Flowmaster,3.73's, Eibach pro rate springs lower control arms Centerforce clutch New motor in the works! |

Well I know of only one person from this forum that races at Keystone Raceway that could back up my times in person. Anyway what I have done to my car is in my sig and I have yet to make a pass down track with X-pipe. Also of note I have heard from people at track that there is a recall on some newer 4.6's with Windsor heads. It appears they dont flow as good as the Romeo heads. I havent comfirmed this recall with a Ford dealer yet.

You can definitely believe it. Bone stock burning out or bogging off the line mine still ran 14.3s@98 when I was getting used to it. With a good launch, I should think that anyone should be able to run pretty close to 14.0 without powershifting.

God no I dont power shift. I would like to be able to drive my car home from track These T-45's dont like the abuse at all, well mine doesnt seem to anyway.
I granny shift, clutch pedal to floor, shift into gear, clutch pedal out, tag gas pedal back to floor. I do have a good system down for shifting super quick, but I never hold gas pedal down to floor when I shift. I have raced 3 different cars over last 4 years with manual trannies('85 Camaro, '86 Vette, and my stang) and have never a power shift among them. Im going to scan my timeslips from sunday, and try and post them in my reader ride, will be car 1271 |
