sd wheeler a scam ???????

I put a post not to long ago trying to get sd wheeler number or web site . I got few replies but I did get one that made me put this post !!

JB31 left a reply that stated that sd wheeler has not returned some money to his CC , he was going to get a set of heads when he killed his car and canc the order on the heads and he also stated that sd wheeler has not returned any of his calls !!!

Has anyone had any problems doing business with sd wheeler or dta racing ? If so please reply and let people know whats going on so that they do not get scamed !!
IF you have gotten a set of heads and want to say how its a good deal and you had no problems , please let us know !!!

I ordered heads in January for a late winter headswap.
I sent in a deposit in early Febuary.
I started messaging him in march, he kept saying they would ship in 2 weeks every 2 weeks, may rolls around, my car is on the raod for the season, he said they would ship in 2 weeks, I said put it on hold.
Beginning June I asked for a deposit refund, he said he would then started ignoring my PM's
He now says it's in the mail, like I have not heard that one before. I sure hope it is, I want to make other plans.

If I would have bought my heads elsewhere, I would not be the slowest GT in my club right now

Well I am happy to say my car is back on the road but I could really use that money for the repairs. over three weeks and still no money. lets face it $1000 is a lot of money and I want it back.

southernstang, I was just wondering if you or anyone else has recieved their heads or money yet? I was thinking about doing business with DTA but after reading all the threads on corralnet about him I changed my mind. I did find this place if anyone is intersted in getting ported and polished heads http://www.powerheads.com/ I truely hope this helps some people who save all they can to make their car the best that it can be without getting ripped off.

It is called mail fraud and is a federal crime. Let him now his actions are being reported and it falls under mail fraud. Remind him it is a federal crime not something petty.

The part that confuses the hell out of me is that he says he is so swamped with orders, if he is, why not give a refund? Those same parts will just go to the next guy?

Something does not add up, that's for sure.

I call and talk to them and they answered the first time i called. They have packages for the PI heads also. They have just the PI head swap kit for 1,300.00 and that is a stage 1 port job. He has the cams also and the billet intake packages. i asked if i order the heads was it going to take months to receive them , they stated within a month i would have my heads and everything. I think I am now going to start look to sean hyland motorsport for my heads/cams/intake , if anyone has had bad results using sean hyland motorsport please let me know !!!

he has the cams for 595.00
heads/cams/intake for 4195.00

check out his site and let me know what you all think !!

I have been there a few times, it's only about an hour away from where I live.
They want $1695 alone just for the pair of Stage 1 heads. ( Catalog Page 4 )
I am pretty sure the $13xx.00 kit is unported.
The same unported kit can be ordered from Parkway Ford in GA for $1109

Whatever you do just don't order from DTA ( unless younare prepared to wait up to & over 1/2 a year.

One buddy of mine had a horror story there but that was with a car that had one of SHM's stroker engines & a wopping blower put in, the installation was apparently faulty causing the brakes to fail & it almost killed him.

I know other guys that will go no where else or let no one else touch their cars than SHM

The main fault with SHM is their prices $$$ and that like many companies they have a couple guys that answer the phone than can be real knobs.

Well I was thinking the same thing , so thats why I called. I did not think that SHM would have that good of a deal , but they said on the phone that the kit comes with a stage 1 port , and I double checked the price and once again they said 1300. But you know how shops are on the phone !!!

One day I think I am going to open a shop and treat people right , sometime it seems you would get treaded better by a drug dealer than a performance shop ... and thats not right !!!!!

some shops call unported heads Stage 1 heads, I have seen that & it pissed me off.

I'm going to give SHM a call myself.

Just got off the phone with a guy at SHM.

he said the PowerPack1, $1350, has stock '99 heads

he said Powerpack 2, $3144, has stage 1 '99 heads & stock bullitt intake.

he said Stage 1 ported '99 heads are $1695 a pair.

expensive!

I just ordered a Bullitt intake kit from my local ford guy, the price on the lower intake like triples in price on thursday.

I am leaning towards ww.totalengineairfow.com for my heads now. They appear to be a class act with a good product at a decent price. I'm also going to make sure that they use '01+ heads so that I can re-use my valve covers & won't have to deal with the bullitt intake oil filler conflict.

I'm done dealing with 1 man shops that are not very close to me.
