Default 5.4L upgrades?

I'm a 5.0L guy and i really don't know jack about any of the modular engines and i came over to your forum to learn a few things

my dad has a 98 expedition 5.4L 4WD with 115,000 miles
I was just wondering if theres anything worth doing to it to up the power a little. It is bone stock now (paper filter, stock exhaust) but it'll be paid off soon and he wants more.

I was thinking of a K&N and exhaust to start. What kinda exhaust setup would be good? Just a catback? He'd like one that has dual tips if there is such thing.

Is there an ar silencer to remove in these trucks like there is in Mustangs?

It's probably out of the question, but what all is involved in installing a lightning blower on this thing? Are the heads different on the lightning than the expedition motors?
Does anyone make a centrifugal blower for it? If so, would it be easier to do that than the lightning blower?

Thanks for any help

Pick up "Truckin" magizine. YOu'll find tons of options for exhaust and cold air kits in there.
As far as the blower route, Kenne Bell and Holley both make a blower kit for the 5.4L and both will produce a large amount of HP w/ and even larger amount of torque.

thats a good idea

another thing i was thinking of was gears. What gears come in these trucks? It's got a good amount of power but it needs some gear to get it up and goin. How expensive would the gears be for the rear and front axle? or do they even make the front ones?
