Cool Stock shocks

What's the approx. life of the stock shocks? My car just turned over 43,000 miles. I've already replaced the front struts. I went with the Gabriel w/VST struts. Hmmmm..... what do ya'll think? If I hit a pretty good dip in the road, like at an intersection, it sounds like it's bottoming out in the rear(hitting the pinion snubber I'd guess). Would this be the shocks are bad? Thanks.

Cool

My 96 GT just turned 61,000 miles and my drivers side strut is starting to fail. I also get the same bottoming out noise in the rear when I hit good bumps. I don't know the life expectancy of the stockers though they are probably going now as well. How much were your Gabriel struts and do you like them? I was thinking of KYB or the Tokico non-adjustables.

Next up: 3:73's and side exhaust

Cool

I got my Gabriels at $55/strut. They work pretty good but I think that are basically a OEM replacement, or just like stock. They maybe be better. My front right was the one that went out on my car. At like 32000 mi. They work, though. I'm replacing the stock shocks now but I'm not sure yet what to go with.

from my experience, one of the few things that actually suck on the newer mustangs are the shocks/struts. so when in doubt get the wrench out.
