Drag racing in canada
Just thought i'd give you guys an idea of what one my friends hit with his new 2002 Lightning.
We went to sannair dragway (close to Montreal Quebec Canada - for those who don't know where it is) Well .. we wanted to see what this bad boy could do. So just to let ya know.. everything on the truck is stock (including the original Goodyear f1 tires). He did 2 mods to it before running. 1. Added a new supercharger pulley. 2. Added a Diablo Sport chip. Here are his results. out of 3 runs. 1st run was a good one.. at least we thought it was. 13.1 @ 103mph with a 1.87 60 foot time 2nd run was a bad run (he spun the 1/8 of the mile) so he let off the gas and just coasted to the end 22@43mph :P 3rd run blew our minds. 12.97@104mph with a 1.84 60 foot time. Man oh man.. I am impressed with this Lightning.. i think i'm going out to get one now!! Just some ideas of my other friends runs. 1999 Camaro SS - 13.3 @ 106mph 1999 Trans am WS6 - 13.2 @107mph 1997 Corvette c5 - 13.1 @ 110(?)mph 2002 Mustang GT - 14.0 @ 97mph (wasn't a good day, usually hits 13.6-13.9) 2002 Focus ZX3 - 16.1@??mph All in all it was a good day. Tight. Sounds like that Lighting was really moving down the track. Just curious. What was the temp. when these passes were made?
Thanks, Brandon

It was a nice cool yet sunny Day.
Temperatuer would be umm.. Gotta figure this out in Ferenheit :P.. Close to 68 degrees outside, but still sunny so that the track got nice and sticky with all the VHT they spray on. |

Yeah, his best was a 12.97..but he should be good for 12.7's as is.
once he puts on the custom intake his shop is building.. he should be hitting 12.6-12.5's. I'm very impressed how the lightning accepts mods .. No wonder the new cobras are running insane HP/Torque numbers with simple mods. |
