Cool Blower wear and tear....

How much wear will, say an 8 psi S/C, have on the 4.6 SOHC? Daily driver with occasional track/race usage?

It will obviously cause more wear and tear, but if you are dilligent with your tuning and maintance, then you shouldn't have any engine problems. Mobile 1 synthetic at no more the 3,000, preferably 2,500, ect.

Depending on how much track duty it sees, you should expect to go though the stock clutch pretty quick. The transmission will also be stressed somewhat.

You good thing about centrifical blowers is that you don't see much of any boost down low, where you do most of your daily driving, which saves considerably on wear and tear.

I'm installing a Vortec in about 3 months.

96GTS,
I think that if it only sees a minimal amount of track time, the car will last just as it would without the blower. Just to prove my theory look at the Ford Lightning... do you think Ford would put a blower in it knowing that it will only last 1/2 the normal time as it would without the blower? Just a thought.

Also remember that the Vortech doesn't start really making boost until you get in the higher rpm range(s). So if you drive sensible and don't keep your foot planted to the floor and keep the scheduled maintenance up to par, the car will be just fine and will last a very long time.
