It's becoming a popular swap. I'm due to receive my new built 5.4 2v in a few days. If you're interested in actually offloading that motor, check out my sticky on mustangboards.com. Sorry to refer to another site but the thread is ~1700 posts long and has enough info to be useful.

I thought it would be. Its definitely the way I would go if I had a 4.6!

Can't list a for sale item until 50 posts over there! If you know anyone who might be interested, could you pass on the info?
Thanks

I think a 5.4 in a late model would rock. Im not real knowledgeable on the late model stuff, but didnt the Cobras come with 5.4?? Do the new Shelbys? They should stick that truck motor thats in the harley F150 into Mustangs, perhaps have a chance against the camaros LS2's when they come out. They should at least have the option of either the 4.6 or 5.4 in the GT imho.

Not in the previous 'Tang, but is in the new Shelby, and s/c.
4.6 is just too small for my taste. GM is up to 6.1 now. Seems when Ford wants to make serious power, they go to the 5.4. My '01 Lightning motor was great!

better get a big cowl hood and prepare to cut some holes in it. that motor is tall, but it will fit.

Mine is done. Torque NA is unreal. Power is great. I highly recommend it to anyone. People that ride in my car compare the feeling to a 03/04 cobra. I think those pull harder up top and mine pulls harder in the mid range but who cares... it pulls hella hard no matter how you slice it.

The tuning has yet to be completed (I do my own tuning) but I'm putting on the new HPS 5.4 mustang intake and a set of new prototype longtubes before I get too far into tuning. The new intake will be released in 6-8 weeks and the headers shortly thereafter. HPS is making the intake, I can't specify who's making the headers but they're a major player in the aftermarket.

For anyone interested, I have a 112 page thread on the subject:
Anyone intrested in 5.4L swaps, in here. Need you to opine. - Page 112 - Mustang Forums

and a site devoted to only swapping 5.4's into mustangs:
http://330stangs.s10.forumsplace.com/

Feel free to check em out.

You can see my car at Project TPS Reports

Please no haranging about the low dyno output. It's tuned to bring out that little. No sense in turning the wick all the way up till the parts installs are complete.

Longtube cars see 330-360rwhp and similar tq, shorty header cars see 250-300rwhp depending on the intake option.

Only 2 that I'd ever recommend, Griggs or Maximum Motorsports. Realizing your tax situation, a UPR may do just as well for you but I'm a MM guy... nothing on the market is as strong as MM. I think it's worth the extra 50-100 bucks. Hey the US Dollar is down pretty far so you're at a good place on the foreign exchange right now to do it. If the dollar comes back it's only going to be more expensive.

me and like 20 other swappers are keeping sort of a running dialogue on those 2 links about our swaps. If you need help on anything, ping us over there. There are several experts.

I'll be keeping updates on new products on both of those sites. Check back often.

if anyone on here is looking for a direct-from-manufacturer 2008 twin-turbo 5.4L (custom built engine) mustang chassis with a full carbon fiber body kit there is a company offering these for direct order. the car is capable of 1070 RWP (that's right... you read that correctly) and is available in limited numbers. they've already begun taking orders, so feel free to check them out.

please see the link to my sticky at MB. You'll need a motor, trans, clutch&flywheel or flexplate&tc, 4.6 motor mounts, 8.8 rear, HPS 5.4L intake manifold, 4.6 oil pan & pickup tube, x/h pipe (modded), accessories, possibly a hydraboost & mc. Assorted other bite but those are the major assemblies.
